Last Monday evening the Board of Trustees held their Organizational Meeting for 2020. The Trustees have re-elected John Jevnikar as Chair and Mary Wolfs as Vice-Chair of the Board. We extend our congratulations to both Chair Jevnikar and Vice-Chair Wolfs for their leadership and we thank all our Trustees, Almeida, Cruz, Hall, Pizzuti, Holmes and Steel for their dedication and service to the Board.
Last Thursday at four arenas across the city LDCSB hosted its annual Elementary Intermediate Hockey Tournament. Taking part were 500+ Grade 7 and 8 students and 75 coaches. We thank our Conveners for all their work to ensure the tournament ran smoothly: Principals Butler, Cameron, Cocurullo, Cornelius, Goulart, Jenkins, Kelly, Looby, Lisowyk, Lopes, McDonald, Moore, Neville, Pais, Speiran, Santandrea, Terpstra and Wilcox. It was an amazing day of community building. We thank our students and our coaches, as well as, all the parents, grandparents, friends and family we came out to cheer on the students. Thank you to our referees, the City of London and their wonderful staff for hosting the tournament. Donations were accepted at the door with proceeds going to One Run as they support local cancer patients and their families.
I share the following reflection from Fr. Jim and prayer for this the Second Week of Advent.
“Advent is a chance to make a quiet space in our lives every busy day. It is an invitation to leave our comfort zones, our schedules, our routines, in order to search out a place where we can listen to hear what God has to say and to reflect on any changes needed. What can I do this Advent season to allow some time for quiet reflection? Does the way I am preparing for Christmas need any evaluation considering Jesus’ message I am hearing?” Fr. Jim Mockler
